Some interesting facts about Facebook:

Everyday, the average person spends at least 55 minutes updating their Facebook status and catching up with their friends. The average person has about 130 Facebook friends.

A lot of Facebook ‘friends’ are people the user has no personal contact with, like long lost boyfriends or girlfriends or old school mates. When these people were at school together, they hardly spoke, but now wish each other happy birthday, due to Facebook’s birthday calendar and special events reminder.

In September 2006, Facebook was made available to all users regardless of company, personal or school affiliation. Facebook now has more than 750 million active users.

The term ‘unfriend’ (when you unfriend someone on Facebook) can be found in the New Oxford American dictionary. The New Oxford American Dictionary  announced ‘unfriend’ as Word of the year in 2009.

Facebook business page users can get their own Facebook URL: www.facebook.com/business name once they have 25 fans liking their page.

Syria has banned Facebook in its country. Some say that it is due to the government’s fear of people creating virtual societies and this resulting in an uprising.

Most people upload holiday photos, pet photos, photos of their family, new babies , their house- the list goes on and on, to their Facebook profile to share with their friends. Have you ever wondered how many are uploaded monthly?  The answer is 1 Billion!! That means 333,333,333 photos every day!
